[Homesteadingfamily] HAPPY NEW YEAR
Here is hoping everyone on this site has a good 2011. Now remember people be careful out there, this maybe a tricky one.

[ASGG] OFFER: 27" TV in Winter Springs
I'm in Winter Springs near 434 and 17-92. **Please let me know approx. when
you can pick up when you reply** and please don't ask me to call you.
Thanks!
This TV works great except that the speakers seem to be going "bad" so they
sound a bit crackly at times, especially during action movies! If you use
other speakers rather than the built-in ones then it would be perfect. It's
black, CRT and very heavy, but like I said, works great except for the
sound.

Just your basic clock radio made by Sony. The kind that's sort of "flat."
Nothing fancy but it does the job. In excellent shape, takes a 9v battery
for backup if the power goes out in the night.

[kitchencabinetforum] CRACKING DOWN ON INTERNET FREEDOM
At Alexander Lukashenko's first postelection press conference on 20 December he promised to crack down on internet freedom and put an end to dissident bloggers. So far he has kept his promise. A huge number of homes and offices of bloggers have been searched. Computers have been confiscated from Belarus's NGOs and the independent media, including EU-funded Belsat, Euroradio, private Nasha Niva and others. The private flats of journalists and activists have been carefully combed.
Emulating the disgusting paradigm of infamous Graecokleptocrats, who persecute and jail dissident bloggers, the government of Belarus terrorizes dissident bloggers. Blogging in Belarus and Greece is considered an extreme-risk avocation. Freakish Graecokleptocrats accuse dissident bloggers of treason, confiscate their computers, and lock them is jail! Freak galore! These prisoners of conscience follow the long tradition of Socrates, who was killed by the Athenian democracy.
On 29 December, about 300 detainees were released after serving their full 10-day term. Around 300 have longer sentences. They will spend the New Year in prison. Another 26 people are still being held in KGB detention center. Among them are seven presidential candidates and members of their campaign teams, bloggers Natalya Radzina, Irina Khalip, and Nasta Palajanka. If convicted they face spending up to 15 years in jail.
Strangely, this election result follows a three-year strategy of regime democratisation and the EU's attempts to tame monster Lukashenko. Even in Belarus, nobody expected such a twist. The ten wannabe presidents enjoyed relative freedom during electoral campaign, without any illusion about their popularity amongst the Belarusian people. But on election night the police used stun grenades and beat severely people during the final cleaning of the Nezalejnasci Square.
The rally was announced widely. 25,000 people gathered together on 19 December. Around 10pm a group of state agents provocateurs began to smash windows. This was the trigger for the riot police to sweep in. Within an hour central Minsk was fully controlled by the militia and the military.
The government of Greece uses the cybercops as a political tool. On October 18, 2010, a vindictive minister of the Greek government went insane, and she did not think twice about abusing her position in destroying a dissident blogger, an innocent victim of a wild political witch hunt. A freakish gang of brutal cybercops broke into the home and into the college office of a distinguished professor and robbed his computers, software, files, documents, personal data, personal codes, and personal secrets. The wild cybercops locked the 65-year old professor in jail, they humiliated him with handcuffs, fingerprints, mugshots, and lies, leaked false information to the media, and initiated sham court proceedings for treason! There was no mattress, no pillow, and no toilet facility in his jail cell. At night, the world renown had to urinate in a bottle! There was neither toilet paper nor soap. He lost his job, and his life is stolen forever by a deranged minister.
Graecokleptocrats are the #1 enemy of the Greek people. That's why Graecokleptocrats are scared to walk on the streets of Athens. They know Athenians will attack them! Kleptocracy, perjury, and cybercop brutality are galloping in Greece, but Premier George Papandreou speaks no evil, hears no evil, and sees no evil. Selective hearing is a symptom of the cancer of kleptocracy!

[Homesteadingfamily] Re: better get 'em while they're (not) hot....
REGARDING GUNS - north of the border
We have to have all our guns registered with the RCMP and in order to
own a gun one must have a Firearms Aquisition Certificate. Must also
have that certificate to purchase ammunition.
My hubby no longer hunts but we do use the shotgun occassionaly to shoot
the odd coyote, racoon or skunk thats hanging around.
Most of us in Canada see this as a big inconvenience but it was defeated
by just a handful in parliament to throw it out...so we're stuck with
it. I guess perhaps its the way of the future, I dunno, but I don't
believe it will make any difference what so ever with regards to crime.

[Homesteadingfamily] NEW MEMBER HERE
Just to introduce myself...I'm 56, married 36 years and live with my hubby and 2 of my 3 sons on our hobby farm in the interlake area of Manitoba.
We've cut back from 35+ beef cows and now have a new (slow) startup in black angus with a bull and 3 cows so far. The cows are angus cross (brockle face) and we would like to build the herd up again to about 20 cows only. We also have 15 horses which is about 5 too many but how do you choose...so we just won't add to their numbers and since the oldest is 9...they'll be with us for awhile.
I've had rhode island reds in the past and we're contemplating getting a dozen in the spring again. Other than that...just the usual dogs and cats around the farm.
We buy all our hay as our 2 quarter sections are just for pasture and we have such a short growing season so gardening isn't right up there either. I believe we're in zone 3.
Hobbies are needlepoint, cross stitch, photography, and generally just hanging around with my animals. I also collect all sorts of things.
Guess thats about it for me, looking forward to getting to know you all.
