Protesters against the Innocence of Muslims film hurled stones at security forces, chanting We don't want the pope and No more insults to Islam. Benedict called for an end to all arms supplies to Syria, where the Christian minority fears reprisals if Islamists come to power. Benedict described the Arab Spring movement as a cry for freedom that was a positive development as long as it ensured tolerance for all religions.
Religions, scams, and hoaxes succeed because they exploit powerful psychological processes. These processes are the very ones that have enabled humans to survive and create art and technology, but also transform Homo Sapiens into Homo Suckers!
Benedict thinks Islam is violent and irrational. Islam appeared one century after Muhammad's death. The first century of the Arab conquest shows the conquerors holding not to Islam but to Hagarism. Hagarenes claimed descent from Abraham through his slave wife Hagar, similarly to the Jews who claimed descent from Abraham through Sarah. The Muhammad of Islamic tradition did not exist!
Because religions claim divine favor for themselves, over and against other groups, this sense of righteousness leads to violence because conflicting claims to superiority, based on unverifiable appeals to God, cannot be adjudicated objectively. Religions do tremendous harm to society by using violence to promote their goals, in ways that are endorsed and exploited by their leaders. Abrahamic Religions are inherently violent because of an exclusivism that inevitably fosters violence against those that are considered outsiders. Abrahamic legacy is actually genocidal in nature.
It was only in the eighth century, when the rulers of a now-vast Arabian empire felt the need for a unifying political theology, that they cobbled together the Islamic religion. The key figure in this enterprise was the brutal governor of Iraq, Hajjaj ibn Yusuf. That's why Islam is such a profoundly political religion with uniquely prominent incivil qualities.
Benedict warns the devil uses human beings to spread evil in the world! In an appeal to the region he issued on Friday, Benedict calls for more Muslim-Christian dialogue and urges Christians not to leave the region where their faith was born.
Stung by myriad charges of clergy sexual abuse, corruption, orgies, and coverup that reach the pope, patriarchs, and archbishops, churches face a crisis of empty pews and empty coffers. The Institute for Works of Religion (IOR), aka Vatican Bank, is a very corrupt bank involved in money laundering, braberies, and mafia business. President Gotti Tedeschi's abrupt firing from IOR came one day after Pope Benedict's butler, Paolo Gabriele, was arrested in the most clamorous chapter so far of Vatileaks scandal, in which sensitive documents have appeared in the media, including some related to the IOR's transparency bid. Vatileaks show a conflict among top Vatican officials over just how transparent the bank should be.
JP Morgan closed the IOR's account, because IOR was involved in money laundering. Italy's financial police found a dossier compiled by Tedeschi concerning his nearly three years at the helm of IOR. Magistrates also questioned Tedeschi about a separate money-laundering investigation that began in 2010 when they froze 23 million euros the IOR held in an Italian bank. IOR does everything from helping rich Italians avoid taxes to laundering money for the Mafia and for people who want to pay bribes to Italian politicians.
IOR's most infamous scandal involved the collapse 30 years ago of the Banco Ambrosiano, with money-laundering, mafiosi, and the mysterious death of Ambrosiano chairman Roberto Calvi, aka God's Banker. IOR held a stake in the Ambrosiano, and IOR was responsible for the Ambrosiano's fraudulent bankruptcy. IOR paid $250 million hush money to creditors. Calvi was hanged by the mafia under Blackfriars Bridge near London's financial district. Calvi's hanging still hangs like an albatross around the bank's neck. As the pope looks down from his apartment in the Apostolic Palace onto the IOR offices in the Tower of Nicholas V below, he can see all the infamous mafiosi entering his unholy bank! http://venitism.blogspot.com
