I've washed mine for years and never had any problems. Guess it's quality. A well made quilt will stand up to almost anything. A poorly made one will fall apart.

Please never put a handmade quilt in the washing machine. It will most likely destroy it. Local quilt shops can give good recomdations and will have special soaps for sale for washing them which is easiest done in your bathtub
