Krissy-where in Maine are you? How many who have responded are from
Maine or Tennesse? We are on the coast of Maine way down east and I
LOVE it-I have only ever lived in New England but I definately find
Maine to be full of excepting, interesting people doing there own
thing and enjoying what we all add to life. As far as farming goes
Downeast is full of farming and homeschooling families. We are in a
group of farmers working on issues such as bulk buying, food
distribution and more. It is a great place to raise a family. We have
a small town school and many preschool options. My 2 y/o goes to
montessori school! My oldest got a full scholarship from a local
estate to 4 years of college of the atlantic-so very small town area
offering many interesting diverse options. Winters are long and hard
but there is a lot to do ice fish, atv trail x country skiing and we
snow shoe! Summers are awesome with swimming in lakes or beach-
hicking and camping is everywhere. This area is also rich in local
music. I highly recommend giving maine a close look-property is still
VERY reasonable here! Hope any of this helps, Kim-
