I'm looking for work on a farm in exchange for room n board and a small stipend of like $50 a week. Is there any WWOOF hosts that are familiar with this set up ? (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms).
I am a 52 year old single woman and would like to learn organic ways of farming. Would welcome learning your ways, as I don't already have farming ways of my own to conflict with yours.
Am willing to learn everything that has to be done on a farm. Am particularly interested in produce farms/orchards rather than livestock farms, as I am a vegetarian and eat mostly fruits, nuts, grains, vegetables and legumes, but occasionally still eat eggs n cheese, however, not very much. Bees and honey are ok, too.
I am not afraid of hard work and am willing to do what I am able to do to put in an honest days work.
Would love to live in the Cumberland Mountains area of West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee, but at this time, am willing to consider any place, especially if it is located far from civilization and in the mountains. The further out in the country/wilderness, the better. I am used to not going to town but only once or twice a month, so being "stuck" on a farm wouldn't bother me.
I do not smoke, drink, use profanity, or do drugs, and am willing to work every day except Saturday. I do not have tattoos, nor wear any makeup, jewelry or perfume. I prefer peace n quiet and the sounds of whats going on outside rather than listening to man made music. In my free time I like to go hiking, backpacking, camping, rafting, exploring caves, and just living simple. I also love to cook, bake and try new recipes. I enjoy helping with firewood and stacking it after it has been split.
I do have a 7 1/2 year old male Golden Retriever that I've raised from a pup, that I could not give up. He has been tied up all his life, except for the times we go for walks and he runs loose up n down the mountains, swims, and gets his exercise then.
I also have a son who is 21 years old and on his own, however, he is also looking for work. He has experience in running tractors, skid steers, haying, logging, etc.
If you need any help, please consider us.
Thanks !
