Oh wow! I wanna come live with YOU! That all sounds yummy! And carrot
cake is my all time favorite! Cream cheese, and pecans...and well, you
got it!
I don't fry as much as I used to...just because we go through spells of
it. And yes, I do use it for high heat frying. I have a Grandpappy by
Presto for smaller frying chores..or I pan fry. I use the Ccoconut oil,
sometimes Grapeseed oil and I will even put a teaspoon of Palm oil (the
red stuff) in with potatoes for a nice golden brown color and get the
added benefit of the beta carotenes. In stir fry dishes, I will use a
little EV Olive oil..as long as I am using a low heat for shorter period
of time. I have used Peanut oil in that fryer too. I like DUKE'S peanut
oil to fry in....it does not have the anti-foaming agents in it...one
less chemical to worry about! Right now it has coconut oil in it (the G
PAPPY) and I strain it through a paper coffee filter after each use,
then toss it when it smells "off". I use lard or uncured bacon drippings
for cooking dried beans, like a teaspoon or so.I make biscuits from the
Palm Shortening. And fresh raw butter for other things. I really do try
to give us a lot of balance in the oils..not too much of any one kind,
but some of all of them at some time! (I am 55 yrs of age and no one in
our house takes a single med! and none are overweight.)
I buy the Virgin Coconut oil from Tropical Traditions when it is two for
one or cheaper. And it takes me a year or so to use one quart as lotion,
but man, does it smell good and makes the skin feel like satin! So, this
may be a splurge, but I am worth it! lolI think I might pay about
$15-$20 for that quart, but the Nivea and other good lotions are much
higher than that for a year!I hope this helps..now ya done got me
craving some carrot cake.... [/:)] ~deb
