>>>Teresa, Is that available in every place? In New Orleans, we use transom's,
ceiling fans and cathedral ceilings. Much cheaper and don't cost anything.
What places can you use geothermal.
Geothermal can probably be used just about anywhere, since it involves using the EARTH itself for temperature control. Transom windows add $$, ceiling fans add $$ to buy and to use, and cathedral ceilings add $$. I'm not sure how you come up with cheaper and don't cost anything?!
>>>I wouldn't want to be reliant on online
business. Electricity goes out, your SOL.
Don't know what SOL is, and my idea of an online business is just an idea. That's all.
>>>I would avoid trailers. Not sturdy, stable or energy efficient. The flat
roofs hold water/snow/litter.
You'd want something stable that'll last a
lifetime, a tin can is not that.
I wouldn't live in one if it was given to me.
Well, with the experiences you & your family have had, perhaps a trailer is not for you, however, I have lived in a mobile home for over 30 years, and it has been just fine. It is sturdy, stable, energy efficient, and cheap. My mother would rather live in a cardboard box than a mobile home, yet her HOUSE is falling in, while my TRAILER is warm & dry. We all have choices to make, and I don't regret mine.
Incidentally, WV is nowhere near Tornado Alley, so they don't flip over here! LOL
If you paint the roof regularly, they don't leak.
And, you can put them on concrete block foundations.
btw: We don't punch our walls, so they don't have holes in them.
And, the walls are not load bearing, so you can remodel easily.
How many homes can be bought brand new and fully paid for in 10 years? Mine was.
Many folks buy a mobile to live in while they build an actual, real house as they can afford it.
And what is a parish anyway? Is that like a county?
Blessings,
Teresa in WV
