I should have clarified~
Its a self help program for low income families~
We are an offshoot from the Oregon Food Bank~ we get SOME food from there,
we go and pick up donations from grocery stores of bread and pastries and a
few other things. The group I'm a part of right now gets allot of donations
from Trader Joe's.
We also have the chance to go and glean excess produce from farmer's fields
and orchards. Nuts, berries, apples, pears... beans beets... whatever there
is!
The local farmer's market donates to us as well. Some of the sellers there
send their excess stuff with us =)
If you do a google search for gleaners food bank in your area, it should
pull up locations!
Some groups are better than others. The last group I was with before we
moved wasnt that great. I was in shock when I came to this group and there
was so much food being sent to each family!!
there is always a variety, and we dont always get the same thing each week~
we even get meats and lots of bread~
Peanut butter and more!
I've been trying to use up all my stuff each week, and its HARD WORK! My
horses have been HAPPY! LOL =)
