I have three PRESTO'S and love them! One is very old and very
heavy....not used much any longer. But the two new ones are used all the
time. I find that the only time I get a little water out of the blow out
valve is when I put too much in the canner with the jars. That level has
to be right..not too much or too little. Otherwise if you are still
getting a little dribble of water out of that hole or from around the
edges, it is because the gasket is not fitting right or is dried out.
You can extend the life of the gaskets by rubbing a small dab of olive
oil on the gasket inside and out...it will extend the life of the gasket
for another year or so!This gasket thing is why I want a BAUMASTER...no
gaskets, has bake lite handles which tighten down and will do 14 quarts
at a time!Whatever you get will be a good choice if you like to can!~deb
