You are correct, Marita.....they SAY that they are not allowed, but I
know of at least three chicken farms near us, who skirt the government
on this...and they never get caught that we know of! They also would be
willing to just pay the fines and keep doing it, but that is after the
birds are already on tables across Georgia! They only have about 6 weeks
to raise the birds and by then, there is no way possible that the USDA
can get to every single house to check. And no way to inspect millions
of birds going through processing, either...they random check every few
thousand birds. There are ALL kinds of regulations already, but they are
not heeded....look how many times those bad eggs (w/EColi) got into the
food system recently, yet there are regulations for how they are
SUPPOSED to be raised, too! See what I mean? Those farms just kept doing
it the way that they had been all along, year after year...and were
raising those birds in pure filth, yet the USDA looked the other
way...UNTIL people started getting sick and dying! Payoffs are big in
the food industry! Those big Agribusinesses just pay them off and keep on
keeping on! For me, I do not trust them (the alphabet agencies) to guard
my foods at all. That is also how BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalitis)
or Mad Cow Disease got started, too..."They" said "no animal by products
(other ground up animals) in ruminant animal feeds", yet they keep
allowing it in chicken feeds...(no more than 33% CHICKEN LITTER can be
used in cattle feeds, though! gag!) and then farmers fed the chicken
litter back to the cows...so guess what? They got the animal by products
ANYHOW even though regulations said it was not allowed! They can skirt
the issues all they want, and nothing happens and WE are the losers.
It is better to raise your own, for sure.~deb
