I have seen some roll-around plant mini greenhouses for under $40
...they have a translucent cover that zips up or down. I am not sure how
many plants they hold, but they may be ideal for your windows..and you
could roll them out of the way, then back to the light as needed. They
may be worth the investment, to keep moisture and heat in.
Every area, no matter where we are, will have it's ups and downs. And
the closer to civilization we get, the more hard it will be to maintain
safety in times of crisis. Being in Montana, you will have lots of
wildlife to use as a resource for food, too..that is not available in
many other areas because of taking the habitats away for building
cities....you are truly blessed.
We live in the mountains, but within about 5 miles of a small
city....but much better than we we began! lol~deb
