Although I don't get to get on here much, I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and many warm wishes for new spring season!
We are sort of hibernating right now with the temps sitting at ~24* and the past few days haven't been much better! Spring time sounds absolutely marvelous!!
We start kidding season April 16th and will have baby chicks to raise shortly after that. We will be raising our 300+ meat birds as well as turkeys and meat ducks. This year we are going to raise Finn sheep and Jacob sheep. We are hoping for lots of fleeces and great meat out of them too ! This is something we have been wanting to do for quite some time, but haven't had the pens done. Now we are ready.
We will be having 4 litters of baby pigs around here as a new adventure this summer. We are tired of getting our babies in July and finishing them out in the winter. We just sent 3 full grown hogs to freezer camp and should be getting them back this Friday ! mmmmmm
This summer we are putting a new garden in with a large green house next to it . We will be also expanding yet again our garden we currently have. We provide organic produce to our customers and they are putting more requests in for this year. We need more space.
We have several other building projects yet to complete this year, and many odd jobs that just never seem to get done. We are trying to finish all of this so we can open our petting zoo ! All of this going on while we home school and run a huge thrift store in town. There just isn't enough time in our day to do what needs to be done, let alone what we want to do... life is short, so we need more help!
We are looking for a christian single person, or a small family to come and stay on our ranch to help with daily chores and other tasks that need to get done in exchange for a free place to live. We will provide a cute cabin (that could sleep 10) and has plenty of room for a small family to live in. It is a rustic building with plenty of windows and a wood cook stove in it. Electric is available, and water portable. This is a great way to try out the rustic homesteader lifestyle and learn many new skills without committing to buying anything permanent. We raise plenty of produce and have meat available as well to share. We just ask that you are hard working . (Slackers wont last long, and will be replaced with another helper.) We will do a background check on you to ensure our safety . If this is acceptable to you and you would like more information, please feel free to email me for more information. we are located in Northern Michigan.
God bless you all in all you do
