Thanks for all the responses. I just got 30 chicks, heritage meat birds and some layers. We lost a lamb last night from the cold snap. With all the ups and downs and more physical work every day than I have ever done in my life, I am so loving all this. Yes, stinky chicken intestines included.
My husband and I had this dream for so long. We looked at real estate and magazines and videos and read books about farming and gardening and now we are actually doing it. The gift is that we get to do it but maybe a bigger gift is that with all we are learning, we love it as much and more than we thought we would. I guess it is out midlife crisis, lol.
Every day I am so thankful. How many people can say they really love what they have to do? Truly a blessing.
Thanks for all the support. It's nice to be able to come here and share. I know when I talk to my old friends, their eyes sometimes glaze over or when I tell them I have three bummer lambs in my husband's office to keep warm, you can tell they are secretly appalled but trying to be nice about it, LOL. Nice to have folks who understand. Have a great day and stay warm. It's in the low 30's today here. Brr. Pam
