Hi BioMapperians,
I have a question about the needed EGV transformations in order to get a normal distribution of the data. Iâm working with seagrasses in the Netherlands and we want to use salinity data to model the species habitat suitability.
The problem comes when we perform the normality test of the variable. The distribution has a first pick at low values and a second and a third pick at higher values.
If we transform the data via BioMapper using logarithmic transformation and we apply the normality test again it continues having the same distribution, so we tried to transform the data outside the program using ArcGIS (LOG 1/Salinity). Then the distribution is reduced to very low values but it looks more normal.
Our question is about what is the best way to transform the data and if it is correct to transform them outside the program.
I hope that I have done a clear explanation and you can help us.
Thanks in advance.
All best,
Mireia
