Hello,
My name is Ryan St. Laurent; I am a senior this year at Narragansett High School (Narragansett, Rhode Island). Lately I have been doing a great deal of thinking regarding ideas for my senior project this year. A major interest of mine is in salamanders, and it dawned on me that something salamander related would be a great potential project. My favorite terrestrial species here in RI that I would love to work with is the marbled salamander (Ambystoma opacum), and being a fall breeder I think there is something I could do with the species this fall/winter. Perhaps collect a wild individual and create a terrestrial habitat
My main reason for joining this group is to get my word out as I am actively looking for a mentor as well as any information regarding people to contact, help finalizing project ideas, etc. I am trying to get in contact with anyone that would be willing to talk with me about my project, which is a graduation requirement. It would also be great to hear of any ongoing or prospective studies for this coming fall that I could somehow take part in. This is all very preliminary, and any bit of help would be much appreciated. Hopefully I will somehow fit salamanders into a senior project because I know it could make for a fun and challenging experience. So if anyone can help me out in any way or show me in the correct direction I would great appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ryan
