Hi Nancy,
Here is the recipe I use. It was in the Fall 2011 issue of The Herb Quarterly. This is the basic shampoo. There were several others, also recipes for Herbal Dry Shampoo, Conditioners and Rinses, even a Citrus Hair Spray. These recipes are from Janice Cox, author of Natural Beauty at Home. Her website is JaniceCox.com. She is from Oregon. Angelia, do you know her? She has other books, also.
Basic Shampoo
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup liquid soap (such as castile). I used Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Magic Soap
1/2 tsp light vegetable oil (optional). Not recommended if you have oily hair
Gently stire all the ingredients together, being careful not to beat the mixture, as this will cause it to foam up. Pour the shampoo into a clean plastic container. (I use a 12-oz spray bottle I bought at Walmart).
To Use: Shampoo as you normally would, then rise well with cool water
Eunice
Could you please share your shampoo recipe? I am looking for one that is not
unny. Mine works well for me but it is more difficult for the kids not to waste
t. Any ideas on thickening it would be helpful. I use a castile soap base.
