Such a good question! The need for upland habitat is so important and so many times overlooked or at least not given enough weight. A vernal pool without adequate and quality uplands is useless. There are many great papers on this subject. Wood Frogs go far. Stay within 300 feet. Do a lot of close up transects within 100 feet. That way they may find them, which is most important to keep their interest. Be careful to put everything back where it was like logs so they can use them again (you might get some interesting feedback on impacts)
Someone wil provide you with a good reference that they can read to understand how far they travel.
Great idea!
The pool with the parking lots and fields might be pretty quiet.
