November 23 is the inaugural International Day to End Impunity. This day marks the anniversary of the 2009 Ampatuan massacre, in which 34 journalists were murdered in an election-related killing in the Philippines, making it the single deadliest incident for journalists in recent history. The aim of the day is to raise public awareness of the critical issue of impunity.
The hope is that the International Day to End Impunity will highlight the attempts to address this issue by civil society. The day will be a platform to demand kleptocrats do not go free, and to ensure those working in countries with continuous and rampant impunity feel that their work is valued and their life is treasured. Iraq once again ranked the highest in terms of impunity in the past 10 years. Greece, Somalia, and the Philippines are near the top.
The impunity of the 300 Graecokleptocrats of the Grand Brothel on Syntagma Square is the most freakish thing on Earth. Even though Graecokleptocrats looted many billion euros in kickbacks and churning, not a single Graecokleptocrat has ever gone to jail! Graecokleptocrats are protected by the parliamentary immunity, and nobody can touch them, no matter what. Moreover, they have the nerve to jail dissident bloggers. It's a long way from the 300 Spartans of Leonidas! Allons enfants de la Grece! http://venitism.blogspot.com
Russia and Mexico, two of the world's most murderous countries for the press, are heading in different directions in combating deadly anti-press violence. In Russia there's been a slight improvement with more convictions and fewer murders. The situation has worsened in Mexico, where journalists now purposely avoid sensitive topics.
Graecokleptocrats love the Greek debt crisis, because it takes the attention of Greeks away from the myriad scandals of the Greek government, such as the Siemens scandal, the huge kickbacks for purchasing defect military equipment, defect trains who do not fit the rails, churning the retirement funds of poor workers to generate commissions and kickbacks, airplanes that cannot keep balance, submarines that bend, swaps of prime state land with questionable monastery land, and so it goes.
Impunity is a key indicator in assessing levels of press freedom and free expression in nations worldwide. And yet, there is hope. Counteractions that can be taken to fight against impunity - especially with the knowledge that 40 percent of journalists who are murdered are threatened beforehand. For example, in the Philippines, the counter-impunity campaign involves initiatives to reform the problematic criminal justice system from amending the penal code to modifying the witness protection programme.
October-18 Mafia is the most disgusting predator of internet on Earth! Civil society was shocked by the brutality and stupidity of the October-18 2010 terror, initiated by the government of Greece. That's why October-18 Mafia is the new name of the bankrupt government of Greece! http://venitism.blogspot.com
The European Commission must end its silence on the October-18 terror. Greece is a Fourth Reich country, and the Commission is obliged to safeguard the rights of Europeans specified in Lisbon Treaty. Fourth Reich cannot continue to say nothing about such a terror within its own borders, because October-18 terror is a clear violation of Article 2 of the Lisbon Treaty. The impunity of marilizardists and October-18 mafia must end.
Colombia provides physical protection to journalists in danger. Free expression advocates in Mexico are now pressuring their government to follow in Colombia's footsteps. Our best chance of combating impunity is by working together with our partners on the ground, and not giving up our struggle.
Governments of many repressed countries, such as bankrupt Greece, use marilizardist tools to manipulate netizens. Marilizard Libel is accusing dissident bloggers of treason. Marilizard Spaghetti is hurling charges against innocent people. Marilizard Tower is a stack of imaginary charges to scare a blogger. Marilizardism is terrorizing dissident bloggers. October 18 is the international day against marilizardism, and October-18 Mafia is the marilizardist government of Greece. http://venitism.blogspot.com
Michael Christoforakos, former president of the Greek subsidiary of Siemens, revealed some names of the 200 Graecokleptocrats, who shared two billion euros in kickbacks, to the prosecutor of Munich, where he escaped from Greece. He also deposited all names with two public notaries in Munich, in case he gets murdered by agents of Graecokleptocrats. This way he stays alive! But the Greek government has not pressed charges against the 200 Graecokleptocrats, because they are in power in Greece, members and ex-members of the Greek government and parliament. You just cannot press charges against yourself!
Christoforakos also revealed the names of twenty journalists who received many million euros in kickbacks to keep their mouth shut about the billion euro kickbacks to the 200 Graecokleptocrats. Needless to say, those Graecokleptocrats who did not receive kickbacks are also guilty, because they all knew about the bribery of their colleagues and said nothing about it. The suitcases with the cash were whistling around them. There is no way they could not hear all that loud whistling! So, in reality we are talking about four hundred guilty people!
The largest kickbacks originate in the military industry. Military procurement is a corrupt business from top to bottom. The process is dominated by advocacy, with few checks and balances. Most people in power love this system of doing business and do not want it changed. War and preparation for war systematically corrupt all parties to the state-private transactions by which the government obtains the bulk of its military products. There is a standard 10% kickback to kleptocrats for military purchases.
Participants in the military-industrial-kleptocrat complex(MIKC) are routinely blamed for mismanagement, not infrequently they are accused of fraud, abuse, kickbacks, and waste (FAKW), and from time to time a few of them are indicted for criminal offenses. All of these unsavory actions, however, are typically viewed as aberrations, misfeasances to be rectified or malfeasances to be punished while retaining the basic system of state-private cooperation in the production of military goods and services. These offenses are in reality expressions of a thoroughgoing, intrinsic rottenness in the entire setup.
Offset contracts were also signed to the tune of many billion euros. Offsets are arrangements made by purchasing governments with their suppliers, requiring the contractors to reinvest a percentage of the value of the deal in the importing country. The arms trade is already an incubator of corruption with such large sums of money flowing around, and all that secrecy. It's so easy to avoid clear accountability about what you've bought, and why. The best antidotes are transparency and competition. But if you add offsets to the deal, it only gets murkier.
We all know what happens at Olympics, an international competition of steroids,
not athletes. People feel well during the games, but feel miserable after the
games when they find out Olympics cost them ten times more than projected, and
most of it went to kickbacks of kleptocrats! The Athens Olympics cost was projected to two billion euros, but it finally cost Greek taxpayers 20 billion euros, with all that extra money going not to the games, but to the private pockets of Graecokleptocrats.
