[vernalpool] Effects of Open Pit Mining on Vernal Pools 100 feet away

 

I am looking for some documented information on the effects that open pit mining has on vernal pools. There has recently been an application submitted in my town of Waterford, Ct. This project will be about 100 feet from 2 vernal pools, wetlands and a native trout brook. The plan is to blast a 7 acre site to a depth of 50 -60 feet and then have a permanent rock processing facility located there. There is a group of residents who are fighting this proposal, which is currently in review by the Conservation Commission. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
