>>>We have an independent place about 30 minutes from here, a sewing maching
store and fabric place, it's wonderful, kinda the old fashioned type of
place I remember from when I was a kid. The ONLY drawback, is the PRICES! I
am convinced that if you want good quality cloth you will have to pay for
it. Especially when the only place to find these fabrics is smaller places.
LOL! Nancy and I wrote about the same store. Yes, the prices are high, but I do agree that the only way to get quality fabric is to pay for it! If we compare our handmade garments to chain store prices, then yes, we are paying too much, but if we compare to top designers & really good stores (which I don't think we even have here in the middle of WV), then good fabric is still a bargain.
My sewing quality is excellent, and I hate to waste my ability on $1/yd fabrics! I have made great play clothes for my kids from quality quilting cottons, but my professional dd needs fabrics that don't wrinkle, and good linings.
btw: Nancy, did you know that there is a sloper class being held on Feb 14 & 21? Only $40 and it includes the pattern.
