Might I be so bold as to suggest the Field Guide to the Animals of
Vernal Pools by Kenney and Burne? Many classroom have sets for the
students to use for vernal pool studies and projects.
I suspect they would be particularly useful for field studies with home
schoolers and they are an inexpensive resource.
