I have a 10 acre parcel but it's up in the U.P. of MI. Use raised beds whenever possible. Also for beans and other climbing type vegetables, use trellis, old ladders that have been tossed out (recycle/repurpose items that you have or others have thrown out). Accept whatever anyone wants to give you - the minute you decline, they no longer ask if you would like something. What is one man's junk is another's treasure. I've seen all types of neat ideas using repurposed materials. Use your library to find out all you can -- that's what your tax dollars pay for. I would suggest seeing if they have or you can interlibrary loan: Mother Earth News, Backwoods Home, and Countryside & Small Animal Journals (I find these to be the best). There's also Pioneer Living (quarterly magazine), Grit, Hobby Farms and Hobby Farms Home. I use the library for all of these magazines. Look up homesteading and get ideas for some book
titles as well to find at the library.
