lots of wood frogs (stereo calls on either side of a group of woods walking folks)
in northern Townsend, not far from the border with Brookline NH, this afternoon.

So far, I have only heard peepers up here north of the Quabbin. I checked a couple of pools today and there was no activity at all, no eggs, no spermataphores, no aquatic insects or fairy shrimp swimming around. We have gotten some rain, but the rain has been mostly cool.
