[vernalpool] no rain - slow night in Concord last night

 

There were peepers screaming and barred owls dueting overhead as I set some
minnow traps in a pool near the Sanborn Middle School yesterday about 7pm.
No wood frogs calling and, alas, despite a bit of thunder, no rain.

I checked the traps today and had only caught 2 male spotted salamanders
and a bunch of green frog taddies (and some beetles).

Hope we get some rain soon. The pools are depressingly low.
