Thank you to everyone that responded to my query re: replicas of herps of
the NE U.S. I was hoping to find a source of relatively inexpensive replicas
made of plastic, rubber, or another material but I could not find any
quality reproductions made of these types of less expensive materials.
However, a source for unpainted or painted reproductions, cast from original
specimens, was suggested to me by a number of people who responded:
http://www.reptilereplicas.com/index.html. Feedback on these replicas was
very positive, but out of my price range. Something to consider: if you have
the right color paints and some artistic abilities or know of an artist
willing to donate their time, you can reduce costs by purchasing and
finishing the unpainted casts.
Best,
John Jose

Subject: Replicas of Herps of NE U.S.
Hi,
I'm looking for a source of accurate replicas (made of plastic or otherwise)
of herps of the NE U.S. I'm particularly interested in replicas of the wood
frog (Rana sylvatica) and spotted salamander Ambystoma maculatum).
Thank you,
John Jose
