[vernalpool] Southeastern MA update

 

Funnel-trapped two pools at a site in Norton, MA last night for about 3 to 4 hours and captured about 160 Spotted Salamanders and 45 Wood Frogs. Interestingly, almost all captures were during just the first couple of hours after sunset.

It appeared that Wood Frogs had begun depositing eggs on the 13th, or perhaps earlier that day. No Ambystoma egg masses observed.
