Re: [vernalpool] Query: Canopy change?

My comment from last night about the algae was to emphasize that I'm finding it in many resource areas, including rivers with a fairly ripping velocity. I monitor a number of rivers in eastern Mass., in addition to several ponds and VPs, and the algae has begun appearing in a number of them in the last 18 mths. It has nothing to do with open canopy or change in nutrients, as my monitoring on some of these sites goes back as much as a decade--and there is no measurable change in shade/sun ratios or change in adjacent land use...
