The pools that I ...colorfully described... are in the Middlesex Fells, so
a large and relatively well protected area. They are in high,
outcrop-dominated ground with no real possibility of septic-contaminated
groundwater due to their position in the landscape. Surrounding forest is
largely intact around all of them. I'd be very curious to hear thoughts on
Patrick's observations and my own. And, as I said, I need to do some
research (oi).
