[vernalpool] Peepers in Lexington MA

 

I checked out the lower pool near the NStar station at Minuteman Tech in Lexington. Peepers were peeping! I wondered if I would see spermatophores from recent mating activity after the rain a few days ago. I saw none, but did see 2 spotted salamanders in the water. Salamanders egg mass numbers were down from previous years, but hadn't hatched yet. With pollen on the water it's getting hard to see.
