Two years ago the town dug up my street to replace sewer lines and to
repave. They applied what seemed like large amounts of calcium chloride
to keep the dust down. This must be a standard procedure at road
construction sites. I can easily imagine how it could prove toxic to
anything trying to crawl across the road.
