Putin condemns the crime of the Muslim mob who killed the American ambassador in Libya and expresses his condolences to the families of the victims. Putin points out that killing a person is a terrible crime, but in this case, we are talking about the killing of diplomats individuals who are protected by international conventions, whose lives and health are protected by international law. If somebody does not accept this, that means those people are not merely positioning themselves outside the law, but also outside modern civilisation.
Eggheads say terrorism originates in the clash of cultures and foreign meddling. Ein volk, ein ummah, ein Muhammad! Promised with 72 virgins in heaven, martyrs have become the worst victims of Islam. But government is the #1 terrorist organization! Many governments terrorize their own people. http://venitism.blogspot.com
Putin notes that in recent years, Russians have had many differences in opinion with their American partners specifically on the ways of resolving problems in troubled countries. Russians share the principles of democracy and freedom, and agree that many regions throughout the world have numerous political regimes that do not follow these standards.
International networks are used by terrorist groups to finance terrorist activity worldwide. Terrorists are supported by kleptocrats, rich Muslims, various charities, banks, drug trafficking networks, money-laundering schemes and bribed officials. The involvement of Hezbollah and al Qaeda in the drug trade is well known. It was bin Laden who managed the drug profits for the Taliban and arranged money-laundering operations with Russian mafias, such as Bratva and Brigada. Countries that fund or foster terrorism, include Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Indonesia, Libya, North Korea, and Malaysia. Many international aid organizations inadvertently support terror.
Putin says the difference in approaches between Russians and their American partners lies however in the fact that Russians believe these types of problems should be resolved through difficult but nevertheless peaceful negotiations and lead to positive, long-term-oriented results, to ensure the positive development of those nations and the safe coexistence of all faiths, religious groups and ethnic groups in those countries. This is a difficult, painstaking process that requires patience and professionalism.
Most kleptocrats are complicit in today's terrorism. The answer to terrorism is better intelligence, improved international cooperation, and limited use of Special Forces, drones, and other limited means. In fact, intervention and war make terrorism more likely. As Occident has expanded operations in Pakistan and Yemen and backed foreign African military forces in Somalia, those nations have become greater incubators of terrorism. Unfortunately, Occident creates terrorists faster than it can kill them! http://venitism.blogspot.com
Putin points out Russians do not support any armed groups that attempt to resolve internal problems through force because Russians usually can not clearly understand the ultimate goals of those individuals and hence Russians always have a disturbing feeling that if such armed groups get support from abroad, the situation can end up in an absolute deadlock. Russians never know the end goals of these pseudofreedom fighters and Russians are concerned that the region could descend into chaos which, indeed, is what is already happening.
Geoffrey Stone has always been skeptical of the notion of terrorism being a war without end. When you were in the middle of World War II, or the middle of the Civil War, you didn't know when it was going to end. You only knew when it was going to end after it was over. It's true this is not a conventional war where you can defeat the enemy in as neat a way as you could by capturing the Confederate Army, but Stone suspects the war on terrorism will end.
Stone thinks the rhetoric of that is blown too much out of proportion on both sides among those who say we can't mess around here because it'll be a life-and-death struggle as far as the eye can see, and those who say that there won't be an end to this, so we have to be especially wary. Stone is much more closely aligned with the latter. If you believe it's an unlimited war, or at least a long war, then the message you should take from that is not that we should pull out all the stops do whatever you can to win this war, civil liberties be damned but that we should be especially cautious. http://venitism.blogspot.com
Putin draws the attention of the heads of new governments, the heads of the states that have undergone major changes, to the fact that they also must not forget about their personal responsibility for what is happening in their countries.
Terrorism is a product of choices and perceptions. Politicians use fear for political purposes and spend vast sums of money on dubious security measures. We are terrorizing ourselves with a climate of fear-mongering that exacerbates the threat of terrorism. Terrorists get their name for a reason. Fear is their chief tactic. Political forces push policymakers to hype this fear, encouraging citizens to believe that terrorists are global super villains who can wreck society unless we submit to their demands. Policies based on this fantasy are self-defeating and bring needless war, wasted wealth, and less freedom. We should rely on our confidence rather than our fears. http://venitism.blogspot.com
Putin asserts we all must be extremely delicate and careful about religious feelings the religious feelings of followers of various faiths. This requirement applies to all people whether they are adepts of Islam, Christianity, or any other confessions, because if a state does not react swiftly and rigidly to provocations against religious feelings, then the offended, insulted and humiliated individuals will take it upon themselves to defend their views and interests, and at times, this takes on absolutely unacceptable forms and they may use unacceptable methods.
Putin really expects this tragedy will motivate us all to intensify our joint struggle against extremism and terrorist threats. Ron Paul muses that sometimes it can be very uncomfortable to ask the right questions and face the truth. When a slick politician comes along and gives a much more soothing, self-congratulating version of events, it is very tempting to simply believe what we would like to hear. But listening to lies does not make us safer, even though it might make us feel better about ourselves. The truth is that ending these misguided wars and occupations will make us safer, more prosperous and freer.
We definitely underestimate the ideological motivations for terrorists, what makes people blow themselves up. It's not politics. You have to know your enemy and yourself. Unfortunately with the war on terror we forgot who we are, but also we didn't know our enemy. Look at al-Qaida. They led us into a war longer than World War I and World War II. Not because they are such smart people, but because we did not understand our enemy. Instead, we applied waterboarding and enhanced interrogation techniques. We did exactly what al-Qaida wanted us to do. When you do this, what are you proving to the guy? You're proving that everything he thinks about you is right. But if you come with a drink and kindness, he doesn't know how to act. http://venitism.blogspot.com
