Definately Maine. I have found living in the south and the north, that the north
is generally more open to homeschooling and people in general. I have also found
that there are a lot more ice storms and flooding in Tenn. Maine of course has
the winters, but I personally love the cold. The fall is unmatchable! The
summers in Tenn can be brutally hot. Farmers markets and organic farms are
everywhere in Maine. I would never live anywhere but Maine. It is the most
beautiful state I have ever been in. The cost of living is low, the natural
beauty is breathtaking, tornadoes are rare. You have the mountains, the ocean,
lakes and streams, cities, country, everything is there. GREAT food! No
poisionous snakes, black widows, alligators or any of that that you will find in
the southern states. Go visit Maine in October and I guarantee you will want to
live there!

Subject: [Homesteadingfamily] Tennessee or Maine?
Hello,
I wanted to know if anyone lives in Tennessee or Maine. My husband and I are
very interested in both places. The one thing that bothers us the most is the
natural disasters. I was reading that Tennessee can have up to 17 tornados in
one year.
We are from NM and we have virtually no natural disasters here. We really want
somewhere that is a lot greener. We are trying to find land that has trees,
water and some open area for a garden. We also want a homeschool friendly state
since we homeschool our two boys. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you,
Julie
