Winter in New Orleans rarely drops below 40. Summer's in Maine, from the averages from NWS, are in the 60s with some areas going to 80.
These are averages, not actual areas. Anomalies happen everywhere.
Anything with snow is too cold for a southerner. Just as a yank can't handle the 100+ degree summers. That doesn't even take into account the humidity.
TN would be considered temperate, best of both. According to NWS.
