Hi Jeanne!I have two canners...both are the PRESTO type purchased at
Walmart on close out at the end of a season...one is a 21 quart and the
other is a little bigger. I dream to own a BAUMASTER double stacker
(with Bakelite handles instead of a gasket)...it will can 14 quarts at
one time. My MIL had one, no one uses it but they won't let me have it
either. (She is deceased) Go figure...
I love my Presto's, both are good canners. I'd say, whatever you can
afford for the type of canning that you do, is best. I am a heavy canner
person...canning everything that I can get my hands on...and I have not
worn out a Presto yet! LOL I do need to get a couple of extra gaskets
for "just in case", cause we can still can if we have lots of extra tips
and some good rings, even on wood fire. I use silicone oil to keep the
gaskets moist so that they seal good..get years more life out of them
that way. I paid less than $40 for each of mine on close out...~deb
