[Homesteadingfamily] Re: Building a pantry reserve

This is kinda hard to answer directly, but we have a *space* dedicated
to this. That is about all I can say.I don't mean to be evasive, but one
never knows who is lurking on these groups. I don't post revealing
pictures or info in which would help pinpoint our stores. Your porch,
though, will do what we have done...I can promise you that! You sound
like you are making due with what you have and you seem to be very
fruitful at it....so keep on doing it!~deb

> Deb this sounds like a great idea but one question...Where do you put
it all? I have a mobile home and with 10 of us living in it storage is a
premium. One thing I did do is redo the front door. We built a large
enclosed yard for our dogs (had trouble with a neighbor in the past and
I want them (the dogs not the neighbor!) safe. Anyway we do not really
use the front door and with the new 'dog pen' we had some extra space.
I lined the area with some of those heavy duty metal shelves that hold a
lot of weight and lined them with 1/4 in plywood. My new pantry! I would
like doors on it but it works well and things are easy to get to. It is
not far from the kitchen either. I just cannot not imagine storing as
much as you do. Where do you find the space?

trees. We had no shade and in Florida that is unbearable. So we planted
fruit trees for shade. And as a bonus we also get some fruit as well
(LOL)We have a nectarine tree that is towering over our house. No one
believes that we planted it and it was just a stick. Our chickens roost
on it at night and they are fertilizing the tree so it has really grown
over the years! I need to do so much more but it is a start. It needs
work but it is a start.

we are, to not have to go to a grocery store weekly or at a minimum of
bi-weekly. I go MONTHLY. And for my family of three with three large
dogs and 5 cats, our grocery budget is an amazing $250.00 per MONTH.
