My pantry once was a broom closet that we fitted with shelves and a potato bin in the bottom. It held about a bushel of potatoes, and the shelves were sized to fit quart jars on. It held an amazing amount of food! Now that I have my own cellar, the old broom closet shelves hold VCR tapes, magazines, catalogs! LOL When it was my pantry, I used my dh's grandmother's cellar, but it is up the road a bit, so I could store most up there & replenish my own pantry every week, as needed.
