[Homesteadingfamily] Re: PREP HARD, PREP NOW

This is a subject that we addressed on my own group....had tons of ideas
for laundry day! And I went out directly after that thread to purchase
lots of plastic as well as wooden clothes pins, plastic coated line,
Borax, Arm & Hammer Washing soda and of course lots of essential oils.
We do have a great creek..deep and fast flowing here, and I would
designate an area down stream from our drinking water for bathing and
laundry. Even bought a few 5 gal buckets for soaking or washing in, at
the creek area.I do have two scrub boards, but I am not really worried
about "deep stains"..at that time, who would care??? LOL I think when
TSHTF we will all learn to deal with the most important things of the
day and for some reason, laundry stains don't rank high on my list!
LOLOL But, hygiene, on the other hand WILL be important for disease
control as well as living conditions. And liquid detergents may be better
dissolved in cold water of the creeks, unless you take the time to heat
water first...I probably won't unless it is for maybe boiling some
hygienic clothes for sanitary or medical use. Have you guys thought of
not only laundry makings, but extra underwear for the family(maybe two
weeks worth each), extra washcloths, towels??? I bought three bundles of
18 ea wash clothes at Walmart for under $5 ea....and have at least one
or two new packs of underwear and socks for each of us put away(I buy
when school begins when they are on sale). Little things like this will
make a big difference when there are no stores to run to any longer and
close quarters may enhance the issue of hygiene....your thoughts???~deb
