I'm not sure I understand. I plant only organic and heirloom - the farmer that surrounds me plants only seed corn - therefore I never plant any kind of corn out of respect for his business. cross pollination would ONLY happen if I plant corn, correct? every now and then, he switches things up and plants soybeans - once again - I don't plant soy, so I have nothing to worry about, right? it is only species to species pollination - corn doesn't affect my tomatoes!

There is ALWAYS that chance with anything not being as stated....but the
point I was making is that by the OMRI standards, GMO'ing of any organic
and heritage seeds is NOT permitted. ( I guess I should add,
intentionally permitted)
Now, in huge fields, of course there is going to be *some* cross
contamination at some point....after all, the pollinators travel.
Whether or not it is birds, insects or the winds, they will scatter the
pollen from GMO plants to non GMO plants at some point it seems. As the
GMO continues, eventually it will be impossible to keep the "non" fields
"clean". But, the intent of the heritage and organic associations is to
keep them both "clean"..and no, they do not inspect each and every seed
of course...no one could afford the seeds, if they did! :-) ~deb
