I agree that we have a right to bear arms. I also have no problem with shooting practice. It was the wording destruction as in destroying for the fun of it, which is how I read it and might not have been the way it was intended, that I have problems with.
When i asked my eldest son about semi-automatic he stated that he saw no need for them personally. Just his thoughts, but I can see why you stated your reasons for them and for protection from a wounded animal it makes a lot of sense.
The reason I was asking originally and enjoy hearing peoples responses is because I have never seen a need for a semi-automatic or for purchasing multiple guns at once. We just don't have the money for that. Thanks for your thoughtful response. It helps me understand what others are thinking and see more points of view.

Sarah, the point with the semi Automatic guns is for personal protection.
This means if you wound an animal, you can move quickly and make another
shot before you are wounded. There are many stories of how deer, elk and
moose have turned on people, not counting cougar, bear or other predator
animals~ practicing and using guns is not wasting ammunition. I like to keep
up on my shooting skills. I wasnt raised with guns, so its allot harder for
myself than it is for my husband. Our children have been raised with gun
safety and know how to handle guns and shoot them if need be. they know not
to touch them unnecessarily.
guns are guns. Shooting guns is fun. I like knowing that if my husband is
gone, I can scare the crap outta someone on my property, or kill a bear or
cougar if they are stalking my children, dog, myself or my livestock. and
dont say bears are harmless. they are hungry here right now and will do
almost anything for food.
This bill is a stupid waste of tax payer money. If someone wants to buy 10
guns at a store, let em. What are they going to do? go raid the persons
house to see why they bought so many guns? What if its a gun collector?
Guns are necessary, and I refuse to allow anyone to dabble with my free
rights to bear arms.
