I'm a great fan of windmills....have seen them portable like the portableand mobile signs you see for some advertizing...with the vanes running up and down rather than the traditional pinwheel style. I would really do some investigating in that area first and foremost.

Subject: [Homesteadingfamily] suggestions plz
I normally read the conversations but today I need imput from the group on a tricky issue. We live out in the country, on the grid(sad to say), but would like to start moving away from it. That being said my first big issue is getting water out of the well without using the electric pump we currently use, no pun intended. We have a generator but it doesn't take of the situation when we lose power. So now I need the power of the group, what do you think.
