Human Powered Devices
In the runup to Y2K, there was a considerable amount of publicity about mail order companies manufacturing mechanical, rather than electrical, devices. If I remember correctly, their main customer base was the Amish.
Do any of you have practical experience with any company manufacturing human powered, rather than electrical powered, home and farm implements? Is there a mail order company you could recommend based on your personal experience or the experience of someone you trust.

GRegory, I use almost totally hand powered tools. Most of which I got from sears in years past, and kept them in top working condition through maintaining them. Some I get from http://www.lehmans.com but most now come from yard sales, flea markets, and estate auctions. Not many folks today want hand tools and most come cheap. I've used Lehmans since he bought out (countryside ole country store--forget its real name-and created what we all now use...Lehmans.)
Luck to you, hand tools are less noisy and lets you hear the sounds of nature. And distant chain saws, trains, boats, and cars on the interstate depending on exactly where you live.
