In addition to the impacts to hydrology described earlier by others, I would be concerned about sediment inputs. I have seen large-scale construction sites in MA where dust blows into pools and coats both their surfaces and their bottoms with the accumulated sediment. This would not be a really big deal for a temporary activity like home construction, but pool function and hydrology would be compromised over time if dust input occurs continuously (as I might expect from a rock-processing facility).

This project will be about 100 feet from 2 vernal pools, wetlands and a native trout brook. The plan is to blast a 7 acre site to a depth of 50 -60 feet and then have a permanent rock processing facility located there. There is a group of residents who are fighting this proposal, which is currently in review by the Conservation Commission. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
