Hi Ruth,
We live in a rural area, but don't do much farming. Most of our land is in woods. I do enjoy the simple way of living, learning to make things rather than going to the grocery store for everything.
I make almost all of our cleaning products, so that saves a lot of money. I make laundry soap. Recently, I started making yogurt. After making the yogurt, my favorite brand from the store is not as good as I thought it was. I've started making shampoo.
I do enjoy reading the magazines that have been mentioned and there are a couple more I like - Herb Quarterly and Herb Companion. I like to have my own magazine so that I can read it at my convenience, underline articles, go back and re-read articles, etc. I can justify the subscriptions to magazines by saving on products I'm now making. Probably if we lived closer to a library, I would use it more often.
I believe in bargain shopping. Very seldom do I purchase anything unless it is on sale, with an additional percent off or I have a coupon.
Wishing you the best.
