You probably already know this, but make building a cellar one of your earliest priorities. That will give you a place to store all that you are able to can for your family.
I haven't had to work outside my home for the past 30 years, but I consider that all that I do to save my family money is along Ben Franklin's "A penny saved is a penny earned."
I try very hard to make sure that there is not a single reason to go to town. I have to have at least two reasons, and preferably 8 or 10 reasons to go to town. We use the library extensively for reading material, although I do have subscriptions to favorite magazines such as those mentioned, plus "Backwoodsman."
We have a fish pond, mostly for entertainment (fishing for bluegills with the kiddies), but it also provides water for the garden and for flushing the toilet during power outages.
Learn to do everything for yourself that you can. We've done our own building projects, concrete work, electrical & plumbing, replacing the submersible water pump, welding & cutting torch, mechanic work, changing tires & oil in the car/truck, growing vegetables & livestock, hunting & fishing, gunsmithing, cooking from scratch, homeschooling, etc.
We live quite simply. We don't need the latest gadgets. I try to reduce our electric usage, and keep oil lamps handy & filled for power outages. We heat with wood, and dry our laundry on the line. We wash dishes by hand, and cook from scratch. I try to find non-electric ways of doing practically everything.
Here in WV, in the not-too-distant past, it wasn't unusual to raise 10-20 kids in a one- or two-room cabin. I try to think of how they may have done that, and adapt those ideas for myself. HTH
