Hi everybody,
Here at Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, MA the wood frogs were calling at 5 of our 7 ponds midmorning monday 3/19. Of the two vernal pools where they were silent, one is dry and surrounded by farm fields and the other is surrounded by farm fields. (We have heard peepers here in past years). Later in the day (5 pm) I heard the peepers at our Poultry pond and I assume they were calling at some of our other ponds but have not had a chance to check on peepers or salamanders yet. We observed and heard the woodies in our ponds all week. As we return to seasonally normal temperatures, it will be interesting to continue to observe .
Thank you all for your observations and comments,
Sally

Hey Nicola,
My guess is that the woodies are all done by you - that seems to be the
case in our area. Their peak calling was on the weekend of the 10th and
11th during the day (as it really didn't rain here at night). Many egg
masses were laid probably between the 10th and 14th or so.
Cheers,
Bryan
