Seems the wood frogs, gray tree frogs and spring peepers have changed shifts with the green frogs in my vernal pool. I was not able to get out that way yesterday and have not set any traps and just stopped by early this morning. Only sounds, besides the birds, where a couple of peepers and a bunch of green frogs. I was up to 15 between those I saw as jumpers, watchers and heard as callers. One new mass of wood frog eggs but have not seen any spotted salamander eggs as of yet. I'm also wondering whats up and hoping for a new flurry of activity with this evenings rain. The pool is rather low around the rapidly receding edges.
Keep the rain dance going! Enjoy spring observations.
