Blue-spot eggs also in Westborough and Newbury, MA during the past two days. Overall, egg-mass counts of spotted salamanders appear to be low in comparison to numbers of individuals (mostly males) captured in traps. I'm hoping this means there are still a bunch of females in the woods holding out for rain -- perhaps there will be another decent breeding event to come for those who may have missed this first wave...
