Tuesday night, between 10 PM and midnight, between two storms with hail, severe lightning/thunder and downpours, I crossed 18+ Spotted salamanders and 2 Jeffersons on wetlands roads here in Groton, MA. About 6+ run over. Also a few Leopard frogs and bullfrogs on roads, but no Spring Peepers or Wood frogs, although some VPs are in full chorus of SPs. Temps were warm and Spotteds were big, fat and moving fast. Because of severity and lateness of storms all night, and few cars, Spotteds were able to cross roads more safely this year.
