Re: [vernalpool] Re: Turtle crossing signs

 

In Sheffield, MA a volunteer has coordinated with the town highway
superintendent to put up turtle crossing signs on a seasonal basis. The
hope is that will both reduce the chance of the signs being stolen, and
keep drivers noticing the signs at peak crossing times. (There have been
studies that show people habituate to signs and putting them up
seasonally is more effective - although I can't cite the studies at the
moment.) Photo of the sign attached.
