I don't have any links handy, Angelia, but I've done a little research on
the subject myself lately. First because I wanted the healthiest available
cookware, and all sites said that cast iron is healthy because you get extra
iron in your diet, and secondly because even though I'm a fully menstruating
woman (hope this is not TMI), my recent blood work came back showing
elevated iron. Needless to say, I'm not using my cast iron pan at the
moment, and stopped taking my daily multi-vitamin and vitamin C, hoping that
the next test will be better.
Anyway, yes, cast iron does leach iron in your food, which is good if you're
on the low side, but not good when you have high iron, which is rather rare,
I think.
